Is Information Overload Keeping You From Reaching Your Goals?

We live in a world FULL of information. We have access to information about EVERYTHING at our fingertips. We simply type something into our phone or computer and instantly we have the information we need. Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?
In theory, we can constantly be learning, growing, and becoming better. But is that the reality?
What I’ve found is that because we can so easily access information, we stay in intake mode. We research, gather, and overwhelm ourselves on a topic so much that we feel paralyzed and unsure how to implement the information we’ve found.

Therein lies the problem. We don’t move the needle on so many of our goals because there’s so much information out there that we keep going back into intake mode. But, only one thing is going to move the needle in the direction of our goals…ACTION. We can gather as much information as we want, but until we begin to implement it, we can’t close the gap between where we are and where we want to be.
So, what can we do to change this?
Well, first, we can narrow our focus. We can choose one topic we want to change and start there. This will help decrease some of the overwhelm and allow our mind to better wrap itself around real, lasting change.
Second, we can switch from input mode to output mode. We can stop taking in any more information until we’ve implemented what we already know. This shows our brain that we are making progress. Then it can take in more information with ease, excitement, and strategy.
Third, we can release the need for perfection. Progress really is better than perfection. When we strive for perfection, we stay where we are because we can never meet that standard. But, when we focus on forward movement, real change happens. We begin to see the growth we want and goals become more and more attainable.

In a world that will give you more information than you could ever take in, choose to just start instead. Start where you are. Start small. Just start.
The truth is that you’ll probably learn so much more as you go than you ever would have through your research. And, you’ll actually be moving the needle. You’ll be headed in the direction you want to go. You’ll hit our goals. You’ll have fulfillment instead of anxiety. And, that’s what I want for all of us.

Cheers to choosing action!
Just START! That is the key to getting anything done. You are so right! If we're going to move the needle, we have to start. Information overload leads to paralysis by analysis. Crystal, you hit the nail on the head once again, my dear.
